Kroymann, Alfred William
Alfred William Kroymann, 94, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at St. Luke’s Hospital due to complications from sepsis. Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at The First Lutheran Church where there also will be military rites. Pastor Kay Slocum will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service. Inurnment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Al was born in Keystone, Iowa, on Oct. 25, 1918, to Frenz and Minnie (Steinford) Kroymann. Al was married to Arlene Churchill on June 25, 1944, they were married 68 years. He graduated from Keystone High School in 1937. He also attended DeVry University.
Al was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Army installing and calibrating a new technology (radar) into fighter planes. After his service, he went on to become vice president at Russell’s Guide for 39 years. Al enjoyed gardening and helping his kids and grandkids. He was also actively involved in Golden K, SCORE and the Elks Club.
Al is survived by his wife, Arlene; daughter, Kathy (Tom) Safley, and their children, Susan, Lisa and Brian; and son, Kraig (Marsha) Kroymann and son, Eric; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Al was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter-in-law, Kristy; and his sister, Arlein Benfer.
Memorial donations may be made to the First Lutheran Church.
