Katheryn E. Kos, 87, of Kalona, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at her home following a brief illness. A celebration of life will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at the Kalona United Methodist Church, with Pastor Gerry Kahler officiating. Burial will follow at Sharon Hill Cemetery, Kalona. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, at Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona.

Survivors include four children and spouses, Gary (Jeanne) Kos of Washington, Iowa, and Janet (James) Ferry, Allen (Shirley) Kos and Kevin (Sue) Kos, all of Kalona, 10 grandsons, Aaron Kos, Shane Kos, Jarod Ferry, Anthony Kos, Justin Ferry, Adam Kos, Aric Kos, Braden Kos, Trenton Kos and Abe Kos; seven granddaughters, Andrea Duwa, Melissa Kos, Averi Kos, Cami Tritsch, Caitlyn Kos, Abby Kos and Gretta Kos; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Ruth) Southwick of Roswell, N.M.; and two sisters-in-law, Vicki Southwick of San Jose, Calif., and Norma Southwick of Kalona.

A memorial fund has been established for the Kalona United Methodist Church, The Grout Church at the Kalona Historical Village and Hospice of Washington County.
