Kimm, Nina L.
Nina L. Kimm, 90, formerly of Norway, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, in St. Luke’s Hospital. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Walford, where visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, rural Norway. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her children, Nancy (Steve) Janett of Corpus Christi, Texas, Doug (Kerry) Kimm of Norway, Steven (Debbie) Kimm of Norway and Joel (Barbara) Kimm of Norway; and two sisters, Jane Wood of Irvine, Calif. and Alice (Ron) Hamm of Daggett, Calif.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin D. Kimm; a sister, Mary Schuldt; stepsister, Thelma Thompson; and a grandson, Josh Wilcox.
Nina was born Dec. 5, 1921, in Rockford, Ill., the daughter of Ralph and Fannie (DeVries) Bogue. She married Edwin D. Kimm on June 12, 1945, in Stockton, Ill. Nina was a music teacher and received her B.A. Degree from Cornell College and also studied at the Conservatory Music of Chicago. She taught music for 25 years in Norway Community Schools. She was an accomplished musician using that skill as an accompanist to students in music contests, playing funeral services and many weddings in the community. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was organist for 58 years and a member of the Let’s Sew Club. Nina was a beautiful seamstress and knitter, making numerous baby caps for the newborns at St. Luke’s Hospital. She enjoyed traveling, crossword puzzles and playing cards. Nina was a devoted wife and mother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and St. Luke’s Hospice for the loving care they gave to Nina.
