Gilbert "Gib" Edward Jurgemeyer

Gilbert “Gib” Edward Jurgemeyer, 88, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at the Keystone Nursing Care Center in Keystone following an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone, with the Rev. David Lingard officiating. Interment will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Luzerne. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Gilbert was born Oct. 25, 1924, in Luzerne to Edward and Clara (Jensen) Jurgemeyer and graduated from Keystone High School. On May 19, 1947, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Bunge at Iowa City. She preceded him in death in 1990.

“Gib” was employed by Feuerbach Oil in Keystone and as a school bus driver for many years before his retirement. Blessed with a wonderful singing voice, he had been a member of the Harmony Hawks in Cedar Rapids and sang in his church choirs.

He is survived by his son, Dennis (Pamela) Jurgemeyer of Cedar Rapids; his daughter, Wendy Roberts of Victor; three grandsons; six granddaughters; five great-grandsons; five great-granddaughters; and one great-great-grandson.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wilmer Jurgemeyer; his sister, Edith Wagner; his grandson, Christopher Roberts; and his great-grandson, Jay Baker.
