Johnson, William “Bill” H.
William “Bill” H. Johnson, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died suddenly on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, from an aneurysm. Visitation will be held Friday, March 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 2, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery will follow the service, with military rites.
He was born April 23, 1927, the youngest of seven children to E. Leola and Albert H. Johnson. He was a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, with the exception of the time he spent in the U.S. Navy during World War II, where he was stationed in the South Pacific. On Sept. 10, 1954, he married Marguerite “Peggy” Williams in Cedar Rapids. During his years of work, he was employed at Wilson Meat from 1959-1979, then he began employment with the City of Cedar Rapids (Street Department) in 1980, retiring in 1989. He always enjoyed sharing a good joke with others.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy; his daughter, Kathy of Cedar Rapids; and two sisters-in-law, Wanda Johnson and Ruth Darling.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and all six siblings, L. Earl Darling, Ray Darling, Howard Johnson, Donald “Scottie” Johnson, Frances Beaupre and Ruth Graham.
