Mary Lou Jacobson

Mary Lou Jacobson, 65, of Toddville, passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. A visitation celebrating Mary Lou’s life will be held from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Schluter-Balik Funeral Home, Decorah, by the Rev. Nancy Solomonson. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Decorah. Burial will be at Hauge Cemetery, rural Decorah.

Survivors include her husband, Rodney; daughter, Ronda (Daniel) deNeui of Toddville; son, Loren (Lisa Graveman) Jacobson of Independence; grandchildren, Nicole (Jon) Avery of Hiawatha, Brendan (Tonya Bartosh) Jacobson of Cedar Rapids, Heather Swails of Cedar Rapids and Lizzy Jacobson of Independence; and great-grandchildren, Skylar, Mackenzie, Lailah, Elijah and Hadley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, aunts and uncles.

Mary Lou Quandahl was born Oct. 27, 1947, in Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of Levi and Myrtle (Wold) Quandahl. She attended and graduated from Decorah High School in 1966. On Feb. 18, 1967, she married Rodney E. Jacobson in Decorah. Mary Lou had worked as a bookkeeper for many years. She enjoyed playing bingo, watching NASCAR, making crafts and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She will be greatly missed by all those who loved and knew her.
