Irven, Helen M.
Helen M. Irven, 91, of Bloomfield, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Blair House in Burlington, Iowa.
She was born June 21, 1921, in New Boston, Ill., to Eugene and Geneva Willits Carlson. She married Marcus C. “Mike” Irven Nov. 28, 1943, in New Boston. He preceded her in death Nov. 9, 1990. Helen was a homemaker and an elementary school cook in Bloomfield. She was a member of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church and a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by three daughters, Judith DeFord of Cedar Rapids, Connie Jo (Mike) Coulter of Centerville and Jan (Bill) Daft of Burlington; a son, Gary (Jamie) Irven of Peoria, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Treva (Daryl) Steinbeck of Owensborough, Ky.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers, Robert, Rex and Donald Dean; and a son-in-law, Harry DeFord.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Bloomfield United Methodist Church with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will be open after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Wagler Funeral Home, Bloomfield, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Eastern Star services will follow visitation at 7 p.m.
A memorial has been established to the Bloomfield United Methodist Church.
