Neita Pearl Huerter

Neita Pearl Huerter, 90, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at her home. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at the Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. A Scripture service will be held at 3 p.m., at the start of visitation. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Anamosa. Father Tony Kruse will officiate at the service. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Anamosa.

Surviving is her husband, John of Anamosa; daughter, Malinda (Steve) Engelbart of Anamosa; a brother, Milton of Anamosa; six grandchildren, Heath (Pam), Thomas (Chelsie), Jennifer and Matthew Engelbart, Stephanie (Sam) Wendt and Katie (Lucas) Schaefer; nine great-grandchildren, Greg, Tom, Colton, Athena, Rachael, Maggie, Isaac, T.J. and Joel; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Thomas John; three sisters, Z. Arlene Meeks, Wanda Shover and Doris Meeks; and four brothers Darwin, Newell, Ivan and Paul.

Neita Pearl Huerter was born Oct. 21, 1922, in rural Anamosa. She was the daughter of Arthur and Zella Johnson Meeks. She was a 1940 graduate of Anamosa High School. On Sept. 8, 1945, Neita and John Huerter were united in marriage in Gilbert, Iowa. Neita and John owned and operated Huerter Locker Service for more than 50 years in Anamosa. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Anamosa for more than 70 years, a member of Alter and Rosary Society, ACCW, Anamosa Chamber, Hospital Board, PPW, Mothers Study Club, Anamosa Area Ambulance and Bridge Club.

Neita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be missed dearly by those closest to her.
