Lynn Henderson, 51, of Cedar Rapids, died at home from natural causes on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, by the Rev. Christopher Podhajsky. Interment: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Walker. A visitation will be held on Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m., with a vigil service beginning at 4 p.m.
Lynn was born Nov. 22, 1961, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Survivors include his two children, Jordan and Jacob Henderson; their mother, Joan Sylvester; Lynn’s mother, Marge Henderson; and his five sisters, Sheila (Dave) Ries of Morrison, Colo., Sheryl (Steve) Rigoni of Cape Coral, Fla., Sandy Henderson of Cedar Rapids, Sonya (Dave) Marshall of Marion and Shelley (Mark) Drish of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Lynn was preceded in death by his father, Leonard “Red” Henderson.
Lynn graduated from Regis High School in 1980. He attended the University of Northern Iowa before moving to Phoenix, Ariz. He managed several successful bars and restaurants in Arizona before moving back to Cedar Rapids to be closer to his parents. In 1997, Lynn successfully opened, owned and operated Paddy O’Rourke’s Bar and Grill. His great St. Patrick’s Day celebrations and successful business at Paddy O’Rourke’s helped the Irish District prosper.
Lynn loved his family, especially his two children and his mother, and his numerous friends. He enjoyed his children’s school and sports events. He was very proud to be a part of Immaculate Conception School and being a Regis graduate where he helped lead the Royals to state championships in both football and basketball his junior year.
Lynn was a very proud and humble man. He will be known for his hard work, his kindness, generosity, and his endearing love for his children, family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lynn Henderson Estate for his children.
