Donald E. Henchal

Donald E. Henchal, 80, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cedar Rapids, conducted by the Rev. Glenn Hunt. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his wife, Jean of Cedar Rapids; stepchildren, Michael (Pat) Atwood of Lumber Bridge, N.C., Carol (Jerry) Dunham of Marietta, Ga., and Judy (Robert) Reedy of Cedar Falls; 12 stepgrandchildren; 10 stepgreat-grandchildren; and a brother, Richard Henchal (Sandy) of Bullhead City, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Henchal; a sister, Mary Henchal; and three brothers, Harold, Robert and Joseph Henchal.

Donald was born on April 20, 1932, in Marshalltown, Iowa, son of Joseph and Mary (Souchek) Henchal. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. On Sept. 15, 1979, Donald married Jean Moneypenny, in Cedar Rapids. He worked at Collins Radio and retired from Harnischfeger after 25 years.

A memorial fund has been established.
