Hartwig, Randy
Randy Hartwig, 50, died Friday evening, Dec. 14, 2012, at Jones Regional Hospital, Anamosa, from injuries received in an auto accident.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, with interment in the Riverside Cemetery, Anamosa. The Rev. Bill Nielsen will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Surviving is his wife, Emma, and two children, Jennifer and Katie Hartwig, all of Monticello; two grandchildren, Tishelle and Jordyn Countryman; two sisters, Marcia (Ron) Jacobs, West Liberty, and Patty Hartwig, Cedar Rapids; and three brothers, Roger of Longmont, Colo., Dennis of North Liberty, and Terry (Janice) of Anamosa. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Doug.
Randy LaVerne Hatwig was born May 18, 1962 at Anamosa, Iowa. He was the son of Robert N. and Doris M. Yarrington Hartwig. He graduated from the Anamosa Community Schools in 1981, and then enlisted in the United States Army. Randy married Emma Edgerly on Sept. 15, 1984, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Anamosa. The couple lived in Colorado, West Branch, Anamosa, and Monticello. He worked as a mechanic for Hughes Garage, L.L. Pelling, and currently at Red’s Towing in Anamosa.
Randy was a member of AMVETS Post 110 in Anamosa, and the Fur Takers of America Association. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, his beagle, Lady, and his many friends.
