Robert C. “Bob” Guenther

Robert C. “Bob” Guenther, 91, of Dundee, died Sunday evening, Feb. 17, 2013, at his home. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at St. John Lutheran Church in Dundee, with the Rev. Timothy Miller officiating. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein.

A memorial fund has been established in his name for Hospice of Comfort; St. John Lutheran Church, Dundee; or Strawberry Point Lutheran Home.

Robert Clinton Guenther was born March 6, 1921, at Hawkeye, Iowa, the son of William and Ella (McIntyre) Guenther. He attended country school near Hawkeye. On Sept. 1, 1944, he was united in marriage to Neoma “Babe” Weber at Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein. Robert was a welder at Allis Chalmers and Harnischfeger in Cedar Rapids. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Dundee, U.A.W. Local Union and Country Cousins Square Dance Club. Robert enjoyed horse racing, square dancing, playing cards, sports, hunting, fishing and working in the yard.

Robert is survived by his wife, Neoma Guenther of Dunde two daughters, Lynne Smith of Davenport and Lisa (Randy) Rhoades of Madison, Ala.; one granddaughter, Cathy (Chris) Gimm; one great-grandson, Michael Gimm; a brother, Harvey Guenther of Fredericksburg; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Guenther; parents; a brother, Lester Guenther; and two sisters, Wilma Guenther and Florence Niedert.
