Geiger, Gary E.
Gary E. Geiger, 61, of New Orleans, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Dec. 9, 2012 in his home. Memorial services are pending.
Survivors include his significant other, Sara M. Shaw; parents, Dr. Robert and Alberta Geiger of Cape Coral, Fla., formerly of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Douglas Geiger; sisters, Angela Geiger and Virginia Koogler; and friends Ed Hamer and Ashby Dashiell.
Gary was born Aug. 8, 1951. He graduated in 1969 from George Washington High School. He was on the state swim team for four years. He graduate from the University of Miami in 1973 and received a Masters in Business Administration from Thunderbird School of Global Management. He had a varied career, working for CRST in Cedar Rapids; Valmont Industries; owned Compass Rose Restaurant in Key West, Fla.; was a Blackjack dealer in Las Vegas; a builder representative for Koogler Homes in Cape Coral, Fla.; and spent the last 20 plus years sharing his love of life with Sara Shaw.
He was a proud Dead Head and loved to go to concerts. His love of travel was legendary, From Pakistan to Phukhet to China. The latest were to places like Tonga, Costa Rica and Culebra. He loved spending time with his parents, especially over a strong cup of coffee.
He will be greatly missed.
