Allen Leroy Eden

Allen Leroy Eden, 74, of Anamosa, passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at St. Luke’s Hospital. A private family service will be held at a later date. A celebration of life for Al will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa. All are welcome.

Surviving is his wife, Judy; four children, Kevin (Karen) Eden of Portland, Ore., Michelle Eden (Lary) Winders of Anamosa, Terri Bickel (Larry) McConaughy of Anamosa and Bruce Bickel of Anamosa; six grandchildren, Matthew and Erika Eden, Sarah Brotnov, Shawna Christie and Caleb and Caitlin Bickel; three great-grandchildren, Sondre, Lars Lukas and Karl Brotnov; and two brothers, Howard of West Liberty, Ohio and Ivan (Linda) of Anamosa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ervin.

Allen Leroy Eden was born June 11, 1938, in Anamosa, Iowa. He was the son of Henry and Mira Storm Eden. Al was a 1955 graduate of Morley High School. On Dec. 19, 1975, Al and Judy Murray Bickel were united in marriage at his parent’s home in Anamosa. Al worked as a test technician at Rockwell for more than 39 years. Al also owned and operated Eden’s LTD in Anamosa for over 35 years. He was an active member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Anamosa for more than 20 years. He had a passion for all things mechanical and enjoyed boating on the Mississippi River.

Al was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed dearly by those closest to him.
