Robert “Bob” Edward Dietz

Robert “Bob” Edward Dietz, 88, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully at home Monday, Feb. 4, 2013. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids with visitation starting at noon.

Bob was born Oct. 15, 1924, in Detroit, Mich., to Edgar and Adelia Dietz. He enlisted in 1942 with the Army Air Corps and distinguished himself in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Bob earned his degree in Electrical Engineering and began a lifelong career at Square D and was awarded several patents during his employment. On June 13, 1952, he married Barbara Fayette in Detroit and helped to raise their four children.

Robert is survived by his wife, Barbara; two sons, Rick (Rita) Dietz and KC (Cindy) Dietz; two daughters, Anne (Verlynn) Schmalle and Lynn (Mark) Wilson; and eight grandchildren.

He will be missed greatly by his family and many friends.
