Terry Allen Cook

Terry Allen Cook, 59, of Indianola, passed away Thursday Nov. 22, 2012, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, after a long illness. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends. Funeral services will be at noon Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, Mason City, by the Rev. Keith Scott. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, where full military honors will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Association. Visitation will be one hour before the service.

The family suggests memorials to the Terry A. Cook Memorial Fund.

Terry was born May 16, 1953, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of DeLos Emmet and JoAnn Darlene (Beery) Cook. He served in the United States Army from 1971-1975. After proudly serving his country, he made his home in Cedar Rapids for most of his life. In 2008, he moved to the Des Moines/Indianola area, where he was employed by the veterans hospital. Terry loved his job and took great pride in doing it well. He will be missed by his many friends and co-workers there.

Terry will be remembered by all who loved him as a kindhearted and gentle-natured man with a beautiful smile and easy laugh. We will miss him greatly.

He enjoyed golf, playing cards and was a big fan of the Green Bay Packers.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, DeLos and Dee Cook of Kensett, Iowa; his sister, Rebecca ”Becky” Chiafos of Watkins; his brother, Robert ”Bob” (Kim) Stehno, and sisters, Maureen (John) Corcoran and Colleen Monahan, all of Cedar Rapids; stepsisters, Vickie Hukill and Julie Welsh; his best friend, Terry Hutchinson; and many nieces and nephews.

Terry was preceded in death by his mother, JoAnn Burns; and his stepbrother, Russel Herbert.
