Clinton, Helen Mae
Helen Mae Clinton, 91, of Strawberry Point, passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at the Chatauqua Guest Home in Charles City. Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Strawberry Point, the Very Rev. Paul Peters officiating. Visitation: 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment: St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Elkader.
Survivors include her son, Phil (Eloise) Roethler of Center Point; one grandson, Lee Roethler of Center Point; four great-grandchildren, Destany, Madison, Hunter and Paige; five nieces; and two nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Sr. and Mary (Casey) Clinton; two brothers, Fred and Ern Clinton; and one nephew, Dennis Clinton.
Helen was born on Jan. 4, 1922, in Strawberry Point, and was raised in the area and attended school locally. She was united in marriage to Ed Bentz in 1960. Together they lived in Littleport, Elkader and farmed what is now known as the Osborne Conservation Center. They divorced and Helen returned to Strawberry Point and later moved with her son to Cedar Rapids where she did nursing. Helen had also worked at the button factory and in food service at the nursing home cafeteria. Helen lived in Prairie View near West Union until she moved to the Chatauqua Guest Home in Charles City in 2002.
Helen enjoyed spending time with her family.
