George Balichek Jr.

George Balichek Jr., 94, of Oxford Junction, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Clarence Nursing Home, Clarence. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Mayflower Cemetery, Oxford Junction.
George Balichek Jr. was born April 24, 1918, in Oxford Junction, Iowa, the son of George and Sophia (Pasek) Balichek Sr. He married Lenora Weaver on June 29, 1940. She died in December 1967.
George farmed all of his life in Oxford Junction, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Oxford Junction United Methodist Church. George enjoyed fishing, playing cards and the Czech Group in Oxford Junction.
He is survived by one son, James (Sharon) Balichek of Oxford Junction; one daughter, Bonnie Hoffman of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Renee (Dave) Schwantes, Melissa Balichek, Sara (Conrad) Kroening and Melanie Hoffman; and four great-grandchildren, Josh and Cara Schwantes, Amanda Osburn and Joey Hoffman.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a grandson, Jamie Hoffman; his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
