Charles Andrews

Charles Andrews, 49, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Chicago, passed peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Services: 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, 4200 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids. His body will be cremated.

Survivors include his mother, Tecola Andrews of Chicago; a daughter, Ladeisha Gore of Indianapolis; two brothers, Tony Andrews of Milwaukee and Ricky Andrews of Chicago; two sisters, Pam Andrews and Geneva Andrews of Chicago; and two grandchildren, Lexia and Rabiyah of Indianapolis.

He was preceded in death by his father, C.B. Andrews.

Charles was born in Chicago on March 26, 1963, to C.B. and Tecola Andrews. He graduated from Hyde Park Career Academy and studied at Kennedy King College. He served our country in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves. He moved to Cedar Rapids in 1999 and worked for the Neighborhood Transportation Service for many years before leaving due to health concerns.

He loved watching movies, spending time with family and friends, and cheering for the Minnesota Vikings.

Charles quietly helped many people looking for nothing in return. He volunteered many hours at Geneva Tower, trying to make it a better place for all who lived there.
