If I could go to this, I would! I own “United Cakes of America” and it is one of my favorite cookbooks! (Although I disagree with his choice for Iowa’s cake. Roasted Pecan Cornbread is not cake, no matter how good it tastes!)
NEWS RELEASE
Warren Brown, a lawyer-turned-baker and former host of the Food Network’s “Sugar Rush,” will speak at Iowa State University about his unconventional career path.
Brown’s talk, “CakeLove: Find Your Passion, Follow Your Calling,” will be at 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, in the Memorial Union Great Hall.
It is free and open to the public.
Brown started his career as a health educator and went on to become a health care lawyer for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In 2002, Brown left the job to start a bakery. Brown’s business includes CakeLove’s seven retail storefronts and Love Cafe, all in the Washington, D.C. area. He is the author of cookbooks, including “CakeLove: How to Bake Cakes from Scratch,” “United Cakes of America” and “CakeLove in the Morning.”
Brown’s presentation is co-sponsored by the Black Graduate Student Association; Cake Club; the colleges of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Human Sciences and Liberal Arts and Sciences; Culinary Science Club; Entrepreneur Club; the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition; Multicultural Student Programming Advisory Committee; Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship; and the Committee on Lectures, which is funded by the Government of the Student Body.
