I had a phone call from a man who wanted to know if The Cooking Channel episode of “Man, Fire, Food” featuring Iowa City Chef Kurt Michael Friese aired on Tuesday as I had previously reported.

I had to work Tuesday, so I didn’t watch it. I couldn’t tell from the show’s description online, so I e-mailed The Cooking Channel.

In the meantime, I called the gentleman to let him know I was checking into things. He said he didn’t see anything about Iowa City, but some foreign country instead. After we determined he had been watching The Travel Channel (which also will feature Iowa eateries in future episodes) instead of The Cooking Channel, I explained why he missed the episode.

Also, his cable provider is Mediacom. Mediacom does not offer The Cooking Channel. I learned this after calling Mediacom.

Even if he did have access to The Cooking Channel, he would not have seen the episode. I heard back from the channel’s public relations department and the airdate was resceduled. Here’s what they said:

The episode of Man Fire Food that will feature Kurt Michael Friese is titled Backyard Feast and is scheduled to premiere December 11th at 10:00pm ET.  There is also a re-air date scheduled for December 30th at 9:30pm ET.

(That’s 9 p.m. on Dec. 11 and 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 30 for us in the Midwest!)
