Woody does great things, but he had a 6’4″ guard score at the rim on his 7′ frame…….Olasheni, and Basabe are the shot blockers and rebounders.

equally as sloppy was the officiating……AGAIN!! It was painful to watch ISU lose to Kansas, and I could care less about who won/lost that one, but these Purdue v Iowa officials puzzled me too………not as bad as the previous home game vs Minnesota. That crew was downright worse than a Kindergarten class refereeing.

1) On the Field Success, 2) Coaching, 3) Facilities………..these are the tangibles that make recruiting happen in college football. You can recruit an area all you want, but to get the big athletes, these three areas must be covered. I think Iowa’s success comes from #2, the coaching. Recently, the facilities were upgraded, so that [...]
Matt Hills commented on the blog post Iowa assistant Wilson hired by Rutgers 3 months ago · View
A loss to recruiting in a specific region, Yes. Not a surprise though, as Wilson is going home. He’s from New Jersey, coached at Rutgers, and went to school at UConn. A no-brainer there. If the prospects are true, I like this change. Jim Reid would be a very impressive upgrade to the Iowa staff, [...]

Mike, nationally these two Iowa teams are not seen as competitive, even in years when they prove otherwise. Just compare preseason polls to final polls. More often than not, Iowa exceeds expectations. Playing in the B1G requires either winning the conference or sweeping your non-conference games to get a BCS. Losing to Iowa State will [...]

good for Delano Hill. He gets what he wants, and Iowa gets Malik Rucker as a Safety recruit. No predictions here, but wavering and recruits changing commitments do not tend to have much luck at the next level…..the Hawks are fine.

I suppose you also had Kent State in your top 20 before this week……LOL
No, Manziel is a respectable choice. I am just not sold on his ability to lead, character, and how much they lose without him. Notre Dame however would be at a loss without Te’o.Matt Hills commented on the blog post Help me with this Heisman Trophy voting deal 5 months, 2 weeks ago · View
It’s “Te’o”

Hands down, Manti T’eo. One element that is sometimes missing from the Heisman voting is “character.” Not to say the others mentioned are not good people, but Manti is classy and respectful, as well as respected. His stats are not AS flashy, but that’s because he is a linebacker. Another Heisman tangible to consider is [...]

I am a big KF fan. Even support his decision to leave JVB in the Penn State game. That’s another discussion. However, the 4th and inches was the WRONG call. At the least, a hard count. Iowa was in a position of losing the drivers seat to the Big 10 Championship (possible). The defense was [...]

Just one HUGE question on the Hyde arrest: Why was the bar closing at 1:43AM?? Don’t most establishments close at 2:00??? I think I understand the miscommunication here is staff expected a crowd to disperse, but the crowd sees it is 20 minutes til. Forget that Micah Hyde is a football player. Let’s say it [...]

I don’t think he ran. He allegedly “ignored” police requests.

Hilarious!! You are suggesting every ICPD officer is dishonest enough to follow such a rule?? In that case, they would not be honest enough to have made such arrests. I would like to think 90% of the officers are of good sense and moral character.

agree here, Marc. Clean history along with the alleged events. Hyde may have said one thing to staff which made someone mad, thus pointing him out to police. The report does not mention resisting arrest, so I am not sure the interference charge will stick. I could see the PI charge contested as well unless [...]

In the same breath, I believe these guys should know better. They are under a microscope. Fair or not, they are not treated like other citizens or students when they go out.

I might agree with a more harsh punishment if they were 18-20 year olds, but these are two of age players charged with Public Intox. We don’t know the story, but Hyde was not charged in the act, he was “pointed out” by staff, and we’re not even sure what he did. In other words, [...]

Last I checked, “IOWA” is a Native American name, and “Hawkeyes” is derived from a character in “Last of the Mohicans, ” the Mohicans being a Native American tribe. Hypocritical much?

Although this involved football, this was not just football. This was their athletic director, president, police. This was the entire campus and more. The entire University needs to be suspended.

see my comments….punish everything PSU, or nothing. Not just football. Remember, Sandusky was not a football coach during all of this. He was a tenured faculty member.
