I see this as having a fairly stark generational divide.
As a “new schooler”, I can tell you that I have a dwindling interest in hard copy. I would find modern technological perks like Nook/Kindle/iPad rentals far more appealing.
Perhaps of merging of ideals. Traditional hard-copy library meets contemporary, tech cafe.

This is a fantastic idea. Free, high-speed wireless access is in scarce supply downtown. I can see patronage of such a place far exceeding that of a traditional library.
