I asked the same question when the deal was done. My guess is political (easy to “vote one’s conscience” when you end up with the benefits anyway), but perhaps he’ll donate it all back to the county. I would suggest Veterans programs and Mental Health funding.

I like the idea. The trash I see along the roadsides are primarily water and sports drink bottles.
I’d also like to see Marion allow glass recycling. Linn County Solid Waste Agency accepts glass, but Marion won’t pick up glass in the recycle bins.

How so, Rich? Miller is still Auditor. The Sups simply took over some areas which it seems they’re allowed to by both statute and acceptable practice as shown in other large counties.

It’s not really a “partisan” issue. Three of the Supervisors are Dems, two Republicans. Seems all of them have had concerns with the Auditor’s approach to things. I’m sure there’s plenty of blame to go around, but seems some folks just don’t play well with others even on the good days.

It already is, and has been for some time now.

Actually, Fred’s right on this. There are indeed windows in the VA’s health care benefits eligibility.
