The below paragragh, makes me feel like no matter what the impact on the other casinos will be, this is a done deal, because corbett will call in some markers and they will just get together with a smoke filled back room agreement like the old good boys system did when they were in Des [...]

Dandekar would go into the blue dog democrat group and there is too many of them already in congress. They add to the number of democrats with seats but then when it comes time for a vote, you can’t count on their vote when it is needed.
Ken Engledow commented on the blog post How would Steve King fare as a Senate candidate? 2 months, 1 week ago · View
I dont think King could get votes from anywhere other then the north western corner of the state any more then Vander Plaats, so it would be an absolute waste of energy for him to run for a state office.

Ken Engledow commented on the blog post NIT chair: No conspiracy on Iowa’s seeding 2 months, 2 weeks ago · View
The NIT tournament is for the losers not good enough to make the big NCAA tournament.>>>>You’re looking at an NIT Final Four with just one of the four teams (BYU’s 10-6 in the West Coast Conference) that was above .500 in league play. So even if a team wins it, they havent won much because [...]

The board has become arrogant and needs a good house cleaning. the old expression of throw the bums out really fits them. they gave their selves a big non deserved raise and just totally ignore the will of the people, which the november election showed how the people felt about the auditor and his opponent. Senator warren just said recently>>”If we started in 1960 and we said that as productivity goes up, that is as workers are producing more, then the minimum wage is going to go up the same. And if that were the case then the minimum wage today would be about $22 an hour” So yes it [...]
Ken Engledow commented on the blog post What’s the best argument for, or against, raising the federal minimum wage? 2 months, 3 weeks ago · View
The best argument to raise it is, every worker needs to be paid a living wage. If a business cant afford to pay a living wage to their workers, they need to remain a family business with ma, pa and the kids doing all the work their selves.

Ken Engledow commented on the blog post Should Iowa have statewide guidelines on traffic cameras? 2 months, 4 weeks ago · View
yes, the state should have guidelines and the money collected from the cameras, should go to the state road fund. that would keep the cities honest and use them for safety as they would have no incentive to keep using them for the cash cow as they do now.

Yes the lower income families should get a bigger earned tax credit to make up for the cheap wages they are paid because people want to buy stuff for less money at wally world and other stores, restaurants and fast food places, which forces the places to pay lower wages to the workers.
