Lots of ignorance displayed in this post, as usual for Ms. Kettleson. So, one Dreamer commits a crime and we’re supposed to generalize from that? For the record, Ms. Kettleson, dreamers with criminal records wouldn’t be eligible for citizenthip, nor would any other illegals, under the proposed legislation.
While some Democrats may say stupid things from time to time, they are seldom as patently offensive as those uttered by Representative King. Mr King’s comments are purposefully offensive and borderline racist, and he doubles down on them every chance he gets to keep himself in the spotlight.
I really do think that if a sane Republican would primary him they would stand a chance to gain the GOP nomination. Plus his new district isn’t quite as conservative as his old one, and the one declared Democratic candidate seems to be a pretty compelling candidate. Hopefully, for the sake of the rest of [...]

Yep, the outrage industry is alive and well in Iowa still

Of course not. The public has a right to know who among them are paranoics with insecurity problems, especially those armed with deadly weapons.

It should be invested in Iowa’s roads, bridges and other infrastructure, as well as restoring some of the irresponsible cuts in state funding to the state universities that have taken place over the last 30 years.

Sears. It’s pretty pathetic to not even have a Sears in town, not counting the mini one at Sycamore Mall, of course.
Vivian Stanshall commented on the blog post Do you think whitewater proposal in Iowa City is a good idea? 12 months ago · View
No, because it is totally out of character for the river’s natural course through the city. Also, it would increase the incidence of accidents and the need for emergency rescues in the middle of campus.

It is truly sad that due to the willful ignorance of the denialists and their gullible acceptence of the spin fueled by the greed of the energy industry, rather than recognizing the overwhelming scientific evidence supporting anthropomorphic climate change will be the cause of an enormous price in human pain in suffering to be paid [...]
Gee David, it appears that you have absolutely no understanding of the issues that you are commenting on other than the pap that you’ve been spoon fed by Faux News, Rush and Glenn. It would behoove you to actually become informed on things from legititmate news sources before spouting your wingnut talking points. It would [...]
Excellent column Todd. Unfortunately, Boehner has already come out and made it clear that the Republicans are still bent on obstructionism, and will not move on any tax increases in avoiding the fiscal cliff. I’m afraid we’re in for four more years of the same from the party of no.
Ah, wingnuts with the Faux News and Rush Limbaugh supplied talking point fantasies. It’s a shame they’re unable to actually become educated about things and think for themselves, but they are a little cute in a pathetic sort of way.

It really makes no difference to me, they have no influence over my vote. Would it truely surprise anyone they would back Romney? If they feel they have an influence over peoples vote maybe they could publish a story on the virtues mass hypnosis.
As has been suggested, invest in Iowa’s infrastructure and educational systems. Restore the unconsiounable cuts to Iowa’s regents institutions’ funding over the last several decades, not to mention the severe cuts to the Department of Cultural Affairs.

Agree with both of the above comments. Also, as the population becomes better educated people are more apt to leave their superstitions behind.
