Thanks for the additional context, Mike. I’m a true believer in “what goes around, comes around.” This will either end peacefully at some point soon, or come back to bite the NCAA and it’s members. –Brad
Thanks for another great article, Mike. You know I love your humor, and am a religious reader from overseas here in Denmark. What made me comment here, and challenge you on this one, was your question about “what’s their cut from this promotional venture?” While I get your point – and support it greatly – [...]

Great article, Mike. I think we’ll get in with even one win vs NW on Thurs. If we lose that one, we don’t deserve it, of course.
Why are ‘comments closed’ on your UNI vs Iowa article on the NIT?
Mike, have a safe trip and thanks for the never-ending humor that is you. I never miss a read of yours, in good and bad years. Keep up the good work, and here’s to a better 2013. Happy New Year.

Great story Mike. The end of a wonderful era. I always love coming back home, and one of the things I look forward to most is turning on the TV9 news every night and getting the sports from John. We’ll all miss him in Eastern Iowa.

This is a copy/paste from Marc’s piece on “Turn in the Gear”…thought it was just as relevant here. The only thing I would add is that what made Greg Davis successful at Texas was not his system. It was his talent. When you have Vince Young and Co. and Colt McCoy and Co, you don’t [...]
It was just one of those years. It happens. It’s hurts, it’s very frustrating. And we shouldn’t have lost 4-5 of those games, and wouldn’t have if our 6 yr old kids had had the chance to call a few key 3rd ‘n short plays over the course of the season. No argument there. For [...]

Adam nailed it. And what a great way (with his comments) to kick-off the Thanksgiving weekend, even if from here in Denmark where I’ll be working thru Friday, but off just in time for the Hawk’s kick-off Friday evening my time. You can all hang me up on this, but I’ve been around a long [...]

It helps, Mike, yes. Thanks.

Great piece, Nate – thanks. Also to Mike for making this possible. I met Zach in the CID airport a few years back just after he’d won the Masters and had his first child, and he was as humble as you describe here, and totally Iowan. Keep up the great work – both of you. [...]

Two class acts! Thanks for following this, Mike.
Steve wasn’t a good cultural fit in Iowa, for whatever reason. And that’s very important in our state. It will never be easy for a coach who doesn’t have that fit – regardless of the sport. Why do we think it took Kirk so long to find a DC and an OC? It wasn’t just [...]

Wonderful piece, Marc. I’ve been in Denmark for 21 years now with the same passion and spirit and weekly search for Hawkeye FB/BB on the web/TV as Brandon, Devin and the gang here – just without the war around me. I’ve had a luxurious situation compared to these heroes, and I’m grateful for their dedication. [...]
