I see CJ having an exceptional senior year because he will have some young QBs who will get him the ball often because they will know he is there and will catch it. When the DBs start to help cover CJ, the long receivers will srart to get some room and make some moves. We [...]
Richard Deasy commented on the blog post Will a proposal to increase Iowa’s gas tax be seriously considered in 2014? 1 week ago · View
I think our state politicians should be embarrased that they “hid out” this year to avoid doing anything to fix our terrible roads and streets. Are all politicians actually just gutless wonders? We all see these bad streets and then wonder why “someone” doesn’t do anything proactive to fix them. The Iowa gas tax is [...]
Todd, I really enjoy everything you write………. I am glad that you are helping here to show that we must focus on the up stream watershed for the Cedar river to help our flooding. I’m a retired engineer, and I do think this is the best way to go to fix our growing flood problems.
I think the best (most important) reason that Iowa plays IA State is that it is very good for all of the real football fans in our state. The sports programs for both schools also benefit very well from these games.
Richard Deasy commented on the blog post Has your opinion of traffic cameras changed since they were installed? 1 month, 1 week ago · View
I still think these cameras are doing a good job helping the traffic police catch the “bad” drivers. Only the bad drivers really have a problem here., and finally the good drivers now seem to be winning.

Yes, isn’t this the intelligent logical thing to do? Any comments?
Yes, thanks to Brian for defending his dad here. Brian is much like his dad .. a really good guy. I find it amusing (really rediculious) how some people can moan about our coach. I think he is one of our best coaches and will continue to show us. Go Hawks……………
Sorry Max, but I do not agree with you. When you pick out a player to criticize, you should at least have your facts behind you. I played at Iowa for Evy from ’53 to ’56 and think I can see a good player. You are wrong about Morris … wait until next year to [...]
I find it strange (weird) that someone could actually accuse Morris of anything bad. Could it be that someone never really played the game and really doesn’t understand (or appreciate) the game?
This was hardly a “dead body falling down stairs” … It was a young team getting better with every game and finally getting to their limit (so far). This team learned that they could get there …. and next year they will start from the point that they know they were close to winning the [...]
Richard Deasy commented on the blog post What kind of state laws should Iowa consider regarding how drones can be used? 2 months, 2 weeks ago · View
When I read about things like this, I can’t help but think that it is just one more canard about “big brother”, etc. I recently read where some “redneck” gun nut was ranting about how he’s going to start killing people if more gun control laws are passed, etc. I no longer hunt, but I [...]
Richard Deasy commented on the blog post Ahead of the curve and the high court on marriage equality 2 months, 2 weeks ago · View
Could it actually be about how the Lord would treat those who are bigots? We have one life to live and if we are not true to our fellows, we may be in real trouble.
The irony here seems to be that so few people actually realize that college scholarships for the real student athletes that we so often hear about are for the bare minimum that these kids need while going to classes, etc. The scholarships are great, for these kids (many of whom would have no way to [...]
Richard Deasy commented on the blog post Do you think wind power in Iowa is viable in the long term? 2 months, 3 weeks ago · View
I’m a retired Collins engineer and have followed this subject in great detail for many years. Unfortunately, the big money people have seemed to control things for a long time and have seemed to be able to fool many of us with their propaganda. Wind energy looks like a great alternative for Iowans … to [...]
I am an old Iowa FB fan and only watch occasional BB plays while my wife Jean watches every one, but I must say here… I think we got screwed on this one by the “refs”. When I played FB at Iowa in the ’50s our coach Evy always would say … “we have to [...]
Richard Deasy commented on the blog post Would expanded background checks be a good part of any new federal gun laws? 3 months ago · View
There seems to be a lot of discussion here about laws, etc. to help limit (somehow control) the number of weapons in the hands of ctizens for the grand plan to limit deaths from them. This is of course a very complicated issue mostly based on the emmotional types of comments herein. I can only [...]
