Two caught, charged in prostitution sting

CEDAR RAPIDS – Two women have been charged with prostitution after a sting at a Cedar Rapids hotel.
Christina M. Taylor, 24, of Iowa City, and Lacey J. Kubik, 19, of North Liberty, were arrested Thursday at Econo Lodge, 622 33rd Ave. SW, police said. Taylor faces an additional charge of pimping for arranging for Kubik to commit a sex act, according to court documents.
Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said police run these sting operations when they receive reports about possible illegal activity.
She said hotel management was accommodating to the undercover officers.
“They don't want these people in there, either,” Hamblin said.
