Police arrested a Cedar Rapids man Thursday in connection with a stabbing two weeks ago.
David A. Janish, 26, is charged with first-degree robbery for the Feb. 20 incident. He is accused of stabbing 29-year-old Peter Borchardt, of New Hampton, and then taking his wallet.
That morning, Borchardt and two other men went to 161 Eastview Dr. NW to look at a car that was for sale, police said. There was no answer to their knock on the door, so the third man returned to their car to get a phone to call the car's owner.
According to police report, two to four people then came out of the house and attacked Borchardt and Jeffrey Palovsky, 47, of Fredricksburg. Borchardt suffered a minor stab wound during the melee. He told police his wallet fell out when he fell to the ground, and one of the assailants grabbed it and ran away.
Officers arrested Janish at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at 2105 North Towne Ct. NE, Apt. 8. He was taken to the Linn County Jail where he made an initial appearance Friday morning.
Sgt. Cristy Hamblin, a police spokeswoman, said no other arrests have been made, but the case remains open.
