High water closes many beaches, boating areas at Coralville Lake

For those of you planning to spend this holiday weekend at Coralville Lake, there's a few things you might want to know:
First, most of the beaches and boat ramps are flooded. That's because the lake is about 21 feet higher than normal. So, if you plan to go boating, you'll need to launch from Mehaffey Bridge. The Army Corps of Engineers will only let a certain number of boats launch from that area, so you're encouraged to go in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid a long wait.
Most campground sites remain open, though there's a handful of sites closed in the West Overlook Park and depending on the rainfall we get this weekend, more could close.
