Federal judge denies appeal from former Agriprocessors manager
ST. LOUIS - A federal appellate court today denied an appeal from Sholom Rubashkin, the former manager of the Agriprocessors plant in Postville.
Rubashkin, 51, of Postville, was convicted in November of 86 counts of bank fraud and other charges. The federal charges stem from a May 2008 immigration raid at the meatpacking plant. Some 389 illegal workers were arrested and charged.
His appeal of the conviction was denied, without comment, by the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Rubashkin is in the Linn County Jail awaiting sentencing.
