A judge has ordered the University of Iowa to release more than 1,000 pages of documents from its investigation into an alleged sexual assault involving two former Hawkeye football players.
Johnson County District Judge Douglas Russell ruled this week that about 445 documents are to be released untouched while student information in about 685 pages can be redacted.
The order is in response to a lawsuit filed by the Press-Citizen newspaper in January 2008, seeking the release of the documents. The university argued that the documents are confidential.
Former Hawkeye football players Abe Satterfield and Cedric Everson are charged in the alleged assault on Oct. 14, 2007. Both have pleaded not guilty and are awaiting trial.
University officials declined comment.
