Gas prices rose sharply over the summer and into September, but have since come down. The average price for a gallon of gas nationwide was $3.44 on Wednesday, about 35 cents below last month’s level.

In Iowa, gas prices have dropped dramatically in the last month, and some Cedar Rapids stations are selling gas for as little as $3.09 per gallon, according to IowaStateGasPrices.com.

  1. Our holiday plans will not change due to lower gas prices. We will drive from Cedar Rapids to Marion to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner with my sister, just like we planned it many weeks ago. At Christmas, my sister and her family will drive from Marion to Cedar Rapids to join us for Christmas dinner.
