Entering last weekend there were three conference tournaments that had the potential for disrupting the hopes of at least one at-large team with NCAA tournament hopes. The conferences include the Missouri Valley, Ohio Valley and Sun Belt.

The Missouri Valley and Ohio Valley — though hotly contested — proved true to form with regular-season conference champions holding serve. The Sun Belt did not, however, and it sent yet another team to bubbleland.

Among the teams on the NCAA “bubble” is Iowa (20-11, 9-9 Big Ten), which faces Northwestern in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament Thursday. How do the Hawkeyes need to perform in the Big Ten Tournament in order to be in the discussion for an NCAA tourney bid?

What would it take for Iowa to make the NCAA men’s basketball tournament?
  1. Beating Northwestern will not change anything. Beating Michigan State in round 2 puts them in consideration if other teams fall. Win 3 games and I think they seal the deal and become NCAA bound.

  2. I’d have to agree with Randall. The Hawks didnt beat enough top opponents and they had a weak schedule! Win 3, probab-lee! Win 2 it wont do!
