Lisa Bluder’s 600th career coaching victory was met with a bit of reflection. But mostly, a shrug.
“It’s just one more than 599,” Bluder said after her milestone win — a 62-46 conquest of 12th-ranked Purdue in a Big Ten women’s basketball game before a crowd of 8,576 Sunday afternoon at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
“When you reach a milestone, it gives you an opportunity to reflect on the women you’ve been able to coach, the women who have been a part of your life.”
The Hawkeyes (14-5 overall, 3-2 Big Ten) improved to 5-0 against ranked teams, playing a lights-out first half that ended with a 23-point advantage.
What do you think of Bluder’s legacy at Iowa? How does she compare to former Hawkeye coaches such as C. Vivian Stringer and Angie Lee?
