For the first time in five years, the cost for Iowa football tickets will not increase, the UI announced Tuesday.
The cost of a season ticket for 2013 will be $388 for the general public, $318 for UI faculty and staff, and $175 for current UI students. General public or UI faculty/staff season ticket buyers from last season can place their 2013 season ticket order online beginning today by visiting the online ticket office inside hawkeyesports.com.
Iowa football tickets increased four consecutive years, rising $3 in 2009 and 2010 and $2 in 2011 and 2012. The last year Iowa tickets remained static was the 2008 season.
Iowa’s premium-ticket games for 2013 are Wisconsin and Michigan, with single-game tickets, if available, set at $70 apiece. Single-game tickets for Northern Illinois, Michigan State and Northwestern at set at $65. Western Michigan is $60; Missouri State, an FCS school, is set at $55.
Do you think Iowa football tickets are appropriately priced?
First off the article is misleading. Season tickets to the general public are $388. Not true. That is for I Club Members. Just called them yesterday to buy season tickets. Can’t happen they said. Last year to get 2 season tickets one must have 14 I Club Points. Heres how you get them. http://www.jointheiclub.com/gameday/prioritypoints. So for a non grad of U of I. You would have to pay $1400 to be considered for season tickets just to buy them for $388. That will get you in the nose bleed sections in an end zone for the season. The best thing to do is buy them individually in the nose bleed section they offer to you, but good luck getting them to the big games. The day the tickets are up for sale the crappy games will be available and the others will be all grabbed up by I Club members and resold on Stub Hub for crazy prices. Thats how it works.
There are seats in Kinnick — granted, not between the end zones — that do not require I-Club membership.
Will there be after 2014 reseating? I don’t know, but that would make your statement true. As it stands now, there are season tickets available for $388 without the donation.
Marc—what scares me is the reseating in 2014. We have bought season tickets for several years without paying a “seat-tax” . Hope it doesnt change next year.
Oh I forgot to mention that it also takes a $99-$199 per year donation to maintain your I Club status. The needed I Club points are subject to change based on demand too.
Over-priced for the product being offered! Wait I keep forgetting this is about athlete-students and not student-athletes! A few more years and they will be fairly priced.
Marc,
Thats Interesting.
My email to Uof I ticket office:
Good Morning,
I was wondering when I could order season tickets to Iowa Hawkeye Football games. I am not currently a season ticket holder.
Here was the Uof I response when I sent a email about getting season tickets.
Jeffrey,
An application will be available later this month on hawkeyesports.com. Season tickets are filled using the priority points system. You can learn more about priority points by following the link included below. To give you an idea, last year it took approximately 14 priority points to get 2 season tickets. This varies year to year with demand.
