This car crashed into a field along Highway 1 near 120th Street, north of Solon, on Wednesday morning. According to reports from the scene and family members, the male driver and sole occupant of the car was on his way to the VA hospital in Iowa City when the crash occurred. He was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, where he was "doing well," according to a family member. A law enforcement official at the scene said the man was southbound on Highway 1, trying to pass a row of cars, when the crash occurred. (Wiley Schatz/The Gazette)
