The outcome of a special election in suburban Des Moines has left the Democrats with 26 seats in the Iowa Senate versus 24 for the GOP. Two very close Iowa Senate races left unresolved on Tuesday have gone to Democrats. A third race likely will see a recount. The District 26 race between incumbents Republican Merlin Bartz and Democrat Mary Wilhelm was settled Wednesday when Bartz conceded the race. Bartz says uncounted provisional and absentee ballots will not change the results. [...]
