Authorities have found what they believe to be human remains at the home of a Dubuque woman whose daughter was reported missing earlier this week.
The possible human remains were found outside the home of Tamelia Shonte Harris, 1970 St. Joseph St. in Dubuque, during a second search of the property Thursday. Harris' 20-month-old daughter, Cecelia Denise Harris, also known as "CC," was reported missing Thursday, and police had said they thought she might have been taken to the Quad Cities or Chicago areas by a friend or family member.
Tamelia Harris was charged with negligence after allegedly giving investigators false information about the whereabouts of the girl.
Authorities say Harris told investigators she sent Cecilia to live with her grandmother in North Carolina. When reached by police, Mary Drummond said she hadn't seen the child.
The 32-year-old Harris later said she sent the girl to live with a friend.
Corken says the investigators's top priority is to locate Cecilia. They don't know where she is or whether she's hurt.
At a bond hearing Thursday, Corken called Harris an "extremely dangerous person" who lied to police as they searched for the child. Harris was ordered held in lieu of $250,000 bond.
Harris' six other children are in the care of the Department of Human Services.
