For some, like Karen Phillips, this is much more than just a parade, it&#8217;s a time to bond with her grandchildren. &#8220;This is a family tradition, my grandchildren we bring [...]]]></description> <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Thousands of people lined the streets of downtown Cedar Rapids Saturday evening for the annual Holiday DeLight parade, part of the Fire and Ice Festival.</p><p>For some, like Karen Phillips, this is much more than just a parade, it&#8217;s a time to bond with her grandchildren. &#8220;This is a family tradition, my grandchildren we bring them here every year,&#8221; said Phillips.</p><p>For four years, Phillips has been taking her grandchildren, Tyler and Emma, to the parade. (AP Photo/Dubuque Telegraph Herald, Dave Kettering)</p></div><p>&nbsp;</p><p>DYERSVILLE &#8211; The Dyersville City Council approved the annexation of the Field of Dreams property, 4 to 1, on Monday night.</p><p>The voluntary annexation includes five different property owners, one of which is the Field of Dreams.</p><p>These properties will now be part of the City of Dyersville.</p><p>This is one of the first of many steps towards The All-Star Ballpark heaven. Go the Distance LLC is headed by Mike and Denise Stillman of suburban Chicago. They want to build what they say will be the Midwest’s largest youth baseball and softball complex, drawing thousands of visitors to the area each summer. Plans call for the $38 million complex to have 24 fields and an indoor training center.</p><p>&#8220;The annexation leads to the next step, which is rezoning of that property, you can&#8217;t rezone property that is not in the city. We cannot develop ball fields there if it is not rezoned and the commercial rezoning is what is next.&#8221; Said Denise Stillman, Founder Go the Distance Baseball.</p><p>An attorney from Hammer Simon and Jensen of East Dubuque, was also present at the city council meeting. (AP Photo/Dubuque Telegraph Herald, Dave Kettering)</p></div><p>DYERSVILLE — The city of Dyersville is one step closer to entering into an agreement with the new owners of the Eastern Iowa site made famous in the movie “Field of Dreams.”</p><p>Go the Distance LLC is headed by Mike and Denise Stillman of suburban Chicago. They want to build what they say will be the Midwest’s largest youth baseball and softball complex, drawing thousands of visitors to the area each summer. Plans call for the $38 million complex to have 24 fields and an indoor training center.</p><p>This week, City Council members approved a memorandum to serve as a guideline for the next few steps with developers.</p><p>“This memorandum of understanding does not commit the city to anything other than continuing this process and working with these people and see if an agreement can be reached under various items that need to be put together to make this whole project,” City Attorney Marc Casey said.</p><p>The council is expected to vote on annexing the “Field of Dreams” property at its next meeting, scheduled for July 2.</p><p>The site is named for a 1989 movie starring Kevin Costner, based on the book “Shoeless Joe” by W.P. Kinsella. Paul Ryan.</p><p>&#8220;The Republican budget passed by that Congress, passed by the Republicans in the House of Representatives, proposed by Congressman Ryan, is all about an individual approach to our nation.
