Corridor employers recognized as democratic workplaces

List based on employee feedback, democratic values evaluations

Three Corridor emoloyers were certified this year as part of the WorldBlu List of Most Democratic Workplaces.

Digital marketing agency Fusionfarm, a division of The Gazette Co.; Geonetric, a 14–year–old Cedar Rapids software company that builds websites for hospitals, and economic development agency Iowa City Area Development (ICAD) Group were among the 41 organizations recognized by WorldBlu of Austin, Texas.

Clarion, Iowa-based Hagie Manufacturing, which makes nutrient and crop protection application equipment, also made the list.

The WorldBlu List, based on employee feedback, evaluates an organization’s practice of 10 democratic principles, including transparency, integrity, dialogue and listening, accountability and choice on leadership, individualism, systems, and processes.

“It’s exciting to see the collective efforts in Iowa to create democratic workplaces paying off," said WorldBlu CEO Traci Fenton, in a news release. "Being raised in Iowa, I take pride in the focus the state is taking on creating impressive workplace cultures.”

Other companies to make the WorldBlu List include, New Belgium Brewery, DaVita, and The WD-40 Co. The organizations ranged in size from five to 65,000 employees from across the United States, Canada, Mexico, the UK, Netherlands, Denmark, Malaysia, Haiti, New Zealand, Belgium and Romania.
