WATERLOO - Jake Horton scored on his team's ninth attempt in an epic shootout to give the Waterloo Black Hawks a 3-2 win over the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders in both teams' USHL regular-season finale Saturday night at Young Arena.

Waterloo clinched the Anderson Cup for most standings points in the regular season.

Goaltender Danny Tirone made a whopping 52 saves in regulation and overtime for Cedar Rapids, then stoned the first eight Waterloo skaters in the shootout. Cameron Johnson stopped all nine shootout attempts he faced.

Cedar Rapids had leads of 1-0 and 2-1, thanks to goals from Andrew Poturalski and Dylan Steman. The latter goal came 4:49 into the third period.

Waterloo's goals were from Drew Melancon and Peter Krieger.

The RoughRiders finished 35-21-4, 74 standings points, second in the Eastern Conference, and face Dubuque in a best-of-five, first-round playoff series that begins Friday night at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. Game time is 7:05.
