Itís a great experience for me to take my grandchildren to Cedar Lake, where they can see Canada geese raising their goslings, as well as eagles, cranes, seagulls and other wildlife. There is an incredible walking and biking trail that surrounds the lake. Each time I am at Cedar Lake, I see people fishing, having picnics and totally enjoying the area.

It was just 50 years ago that I grew up in the Cedar Lake area, and my friends and I spent a lot of time at Cedar Lake, then called ďthe slough.Ē The lake then and the lake as it is now are of no comparison. Back then, colonies of vermin were on the shoreline. Trash and large barrels littered the area and families were not to be found.

Today, Cedar Lake has a lot to offer Cedar Rapids and itís worth additional investment to continue to develop the area. I encourage everyone to go for a walk around Cedar Lake and see the potential for yourself.
