Pair of RoughRiders earns USHL weekly honors

Freddy Tiffels and Danny Tirone of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders were honored Monday by the United States Hockey League as league Forward of the Week and Goaltender of the Week, respectively.
Tiffels shared his award with Sonny Milano of Team USA. The 18-year-old German had three goals and two assists in a pair of wins for his team last weekend at Youngstown.
The Western Michigan commitment had nine goals and 16 assists in 29 games since being acquired in a December trade from the Fargo Force.
Tirone posted a 2.00 goals against average and .920 save percentage in his two games against Youngstown. The New Hampshire commit has played the third-most minutes in the USHL this season (2,411) and is tied for eighth in save percentage (.916).
The RoughRiders wrap up their regular season with a home game Friday night against Waterloo and a road game Saturday night at Waterloo.
