RoughRiders edge Youngstown, 4-3

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Defenseman Scott Moldenhauer's unassisted goal early in the third period gave the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders a 4-3 United States Hockey League win Friday night over the Youngstown Phantoms.

The Riders improved to 34-20-3 for 71 standings points. They increased their lead over Dubuque for second place in the Eastern Conference to three and have control of their own destiny.

The teams play again Saturday night.

Cedar Rapids got second-period goals from Jason Kalinowski, Andrew Poturalski and Freddy Tiffels. Moldenhauer scored at 5:37 of the third to break a 3-3 tie.

Danny Tirone made 18 saves to get the win in net.
