CRAG's Beyer captures state titles

IOWA CITY — Todd Beyer II of the Cedar Rapids Association of Gymnastics won the floor exercise and vault in Level 10 at the state boys’ gymnastics meet hosted by Eyas Gymnastics.

Beyer also finished second on the pommel horse, still rings, parallel bars, high bar and in the all around.

Twisters gymnasts shine in series of meets

Alex Sands and Allyson Steffensmeier of Twisters Gymnastics won events last month at the Winter Wonderland Invitational, hosted by the Iowa Gym-Nest in Iowa City.

Sands won the beam in Level 8 and Steffensmeier the bars in Level 9.

At the Northern Lights meet in Minneapolis earlier this month, Steffensmeier won on the beam and placed third on the vault and Colette Miller won the vault and all around and placed in the beam and floor exercise, both in Level 9

Alexis Peterson (vault) and Lauren Easton (bars) placed in Level 8.

At the USAG state meet hosted by Twisters, Sands won the beam and floor and placed in the all around and vault in Level 8. Peterson won the vault and all around and Easton and Hannah Martin placed in Level 8 events.

Steffensmeier was a Level 9 placewinner.

2 from CRAG ‘Leap’ to wins

CEDAR RAPIDS — Mikayla Glovik and Amyah Arrington of the Cedar Rapids Association of Gymnastics won titles at the Leap Into Spring meet earlier this month.

Glovik won the beam in Xcel Silver and Arrington the bars in Xcel Gold. Arrington also placed in two other events.

CRAG’s Macie Forck (Xcel Silver) and Kylee McGovern (Xcel Gold) also earned top-three finishes.
