A Marion manufacturer is considering a $2.16 million expansion.

Freund-Vector Corp. manufacturers a wide-range of equipment for the processing of powders, particles, beads, pellets, tablets and other solid materials to multiple industries, including the pharmaceutical, nutritional, chemical, powdered metals and automotive.

The company, at 675 44th St., would add 12,000 square feet to its 85,275-square-foot facility.

The expansion would add 12 jobs, according to a news release. Freund-Vector employs 115 people at its Marion facility.

The Marion Economic Development Co. partnered with the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance in assisting with the preparation of the state application that will be sent to the Iowa Economic Development Authority.

Pending approval of the application, construction would begin this spring with completion in spring of 2015.

Freund Corp. of Tokyo purchased controlling interest of Vector Corporation in 1997. Together Freund and Vector have more than 5,000 installations in 51 countries.

Vector Corp. became Freund-Vector Corp. in January 2012.
