Cedar Rapids firefighters have raised more than $40,000 for hospitalized children.

On Thursday, the Cedar Rapids Firefighters Foundation presented a check to UnityPoint Health - St. Luke's Hospital for $40,022. The money raised will benefit the Sparky's Truck program, which brings a miniature fire truck to the hospital to entertain children and their families. Money raised by firefighters also went to purchase iPads and Kindles for children and families to use during lengthy hospital stays.

The money was raised through collecting donations and a charity flag football game in September.
