As reported here last week, quarterback Cody Sokol has left the Iowa program and will transfer to Louisiana Tech.
Safety Ruben Lile also will transfer. If I remember correctly, Lile played one play on defense last season (the ISU last-second lateral play).
Here's the release from UI sports info:
IOWA FOOTBALL ROSTER CHANGES
IOWA CITY, Iowa - - University of Iowa head football coach Kirk Ferentz announced Monday that two scholarship student-athletes, quarterback Cody Sokol and defensive back Ruben Lile, have left the Hawkeye football program.
"Cody has been a tremendous team member and we appreciate all his efforts on the teams' behalf,” said Ferentz. “Cody is a very good quarterback and we wish him the best at Louisiana Tech."
Sokol joined the UI program after attending Scottsdale (Ariz.) Community College and redshirted in 2012. Last season he saw action in Iowa's 38-17 win at Nebraska, but had no statistics.
Lile, a native of Detroit, Mich., was a redshirt freshman in 2013. He saw action in three games, recording one solo tackle.
"Ruben expressed a desire to transfer closer to home and we will do all we can to help him with his request," said Ferentz.
The Hawkeyes begin spring practice Wednesday, March 26. Iowa will hold an open practice at Valley Stadium in West Des Moines on Saturday, April 12 (1 p.m.) and conclude spring practice with the spring game in Kinnick Stadium on Saturday, April 26 (2 p.m.).
Iowa Hawkeyes defensive back Ruben Lile (25) and defensive back B.J. Lowery (19) hit Iowa State Cyclones wide receiver Jarvis West (1) as he tries to lateral the ball on the last play of their rivalry game Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames. (Brian Ray/The Gazette-KCRG)
